Astro-Forecast for October 2013

Happy October everyone!

As we continue with the turning of the wheel and find ourselves in the fall season, the stars have an appropriate energy to match the feel and mood of autumn. There is a lot going on this month, but the predominant energy of the month revolves around 2 characters: Mercury and Saturn. Why? Well, Mercury seems to be dancing around Saturn this month and will spend most of the month hanging out with the ‘cool’ guy on the other side of the asteroid belt.

Well, what does this matter to us? Of all the planets, we are in large part a very mercurial society. Much of our experience of life is based on our thoughts, communication and perception, all of which are expressions of Mercury’s energy in our lives. Mercury is very active and outgoing as a general rule is in function but when he hangs around Saturn (who is essentially his mental opposite), he takes the time to slow down and examine himself and the world around him.

Libra New Moon Festival ~New Moon occurs at 5:34pm Pacific time on Friday, October 4th – Let Choice Be Made!
October 3rd - 9th
"It’s a rather unusual, possibly irrational and unexpected week, with things unforeseen, unanticipated and unpredicted occurring. We may experience a subtle nervousness and anxiety due to Uranus interacting with the Sun and planets. Sun/Moon in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries - creating all things unexpected and new with finance and relationships.

Friday (Libra new moon festival) through Tuesday, Saturn, Mercury, Uranus and Scorpio are all in a jumble of interactions. Things interconnected yet uncompromising continue throughout the week. We seek harmony and confront chaos. The moon (humanity) travels between the planets, with Uranus in charge. Change becomes the norm.

Astrograph  October 2 2013

The Astrology of October features Mercury, Chiron, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto. Mercury has its final retrograde period of the year beginning on the 21st, and the lunations of this quarter highlight the forming Uranus-Pluto square as well as Chiron. The October 4th New Moon forms a T-square with Uranus and Pluto, and is also accompanied by an exact inconjunct between Saturn and Uranus, while Neptune is highlighted at the time of the October 18th Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse. With all these outer planet activations over this three-month period, we are heading for another strong dose of the evolutionary mandate that has been stirring within all of us over recent years, in this turbulent decade. The situation that we are in, both individually and collectively, is dire but not impossible. It might be time for each of us to step up to the plate and take a good swing at what we need to do, in order that we make the best of what we are now facing and make an important move toward forward motion into our next evolutionary stage.

Astrology Report for October

October contains several planetary trigger points that could accelerate major changes on both personal and world levels. The New Moon in Libra aligns with the ongoing Uranus/Pluto square to set the stage, followed by a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Aries on October 18 and a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on November 3. Mercury in Scorpio turns retrograde on October 21, allowing us to look at all these changes from a deeper perspective.

The New Moon occurs on October 4 at 12 Libra.  It aligns with Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter, making a cardinal grand cross pattern. This type of pattern tends to produce fast-paced events that can lead to possible crises and stress.  However, at the same time, there is a water grand trine in the background between Saturn in Scorpio, Chiron in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer that allows us to slow down and become more tranquil and creative, which opens us to new ideas and possibilities. We can always choose where to put our attention.

Libra New Moon: Peace Is In The Transformation

Lia's picture

The New Moon at 12 degrees of Libra highlights diplomacy, valuable relationships, peace, intelligent exchanges, and pleasing social interactions. But you probably won’t find those qualities as easily right now because this New Moon activates the ongoing Cardinal Grand Cross energies and dynamics around how you share with others and if you really, truly play nice on the playground.

As I’ve described in recent radio shows, the Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) are associated with an energetic initiation of a season. Imagine all four seasons of the year wanting to begin simultaneously, yet each has a very different approach and motivation. How is it possible for all four initiations to exist and thrive at once??? It’s not. Which is why there is tension, conflict, confusion, and internal stress around which direction to go right now. Let’s take a look at dominant energies to find clarity.

PamYounghansHighlighted Aspects this Week

Tuesday: Neptune trine Mercury, Pluto square Sun, Neptune quintile Sun; Wednesday: Pluto semisquare Venus, Chiron trine Saturn, Mars trine Eris, Chiron quincunx Sun; Thursday: Uranus opposite Sun, Uranus sesquisquare Venus; Friday: New Moon 5:34pm PDT, Uranus quincunx Saturn; Saturday: Pluto sesquisquare Mars, Mercury conjunct North Node; Sunday: Pluto sextile Mercury

WE HAVE an action-packed week — and month — ahead of us.  As I ponder the list of highlighted planetary aspects for the coming week, I find it hard to know exactly where to start, or which aspects to focus most attention on … a sure indicator that the energies on the horizon are both varied and complex.

Finding a physical analogy often helps me find a bit of order and understanding amidst chaos. If we look at this week’s array of planetary influences as dishes at a meal, we can start to define things a bit more clearly.

THE MAIN COURSE is usually the focal point of the meal. In our case, the main course is the Pluto-Uranus square. And yes, we’ve seen that item on the menu for over a year now. Sometimes it’s the featured dish, and sometimes it plays a less prominent role, but it will continue to be on the menu through early 2015.
