Increased activity took place in the Bocca Nuova crater of Etna volcano [4] during last night, when the tremor steeply rose. It dropped back to normal levels this morning.

It seems a new earthquake swarm has started at El Hierro volcano [5] yesterday, when the number of quakes rose from an average of about 8-10 to 23 quakes per day. Today, so far there have been 14 events recorded, and their number is likely to rise further. The quakes are very small (mostly under M1, largest M2.0) and are concentrated at about 10 km depth in the western El Golfo and scattered in the SW part of the island at greater depths.

Lokon volcano [6] in North Sulawesi had another explosion this afternoon, which was heard in up to 6 km distance.

Popocatépetl [7] has not changed much. A strong SO2 plume was again visible on yesterday's NOAA satellite image.

Batu Tara [8] produced new explosions with ash at 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude.

Sakurajima volcano [9] in Japan remains relatively active. 4 explosions of moderate size occurred yesterday 6 Oct (GMT time). Ash plumes rose to 2.7-3 km altitude 9-10,000 ft).

A new earthquake swarm occurred over the weekend on the Iceland's Reykjanes peninsula, on the volcanic rift zone about 12 km SW of Brenisteinsfjöll volcano [10]. The largest quakes was a M3.8 event at 5 km depth on Friday at 19:42 UTC.

A minor seismic swarm occurred at Yellowstone [11], but falls into what is normal activity at a large active caldera.
