In the small, university town of Gottingen, Germany [17], a handful of autonomously acting ‘Flower Children’ have decided to rogue-plant cannabis seed in the hundreds of thousands as an act of defiance against the ‘demonization’ of a plant that has been proven to treat multiple ailments. To put it in simper terms, citizens are planting cannabis plants randomly throughout the town to really show officials what the people want.

Earlier this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that antibiotic resistant bacteria could pose a catastrophic threat. CRE, or carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, has become more common over the last decade due to the overuse of antibiotics with the bacteria evolving and developing the ability to fight these drugs. They pass on the ability to resist treatment to bacteria that follow, forcing new antibiotics to be developed in order to fight infections that were previously treated quite easily.

So I really did pick tomatoes today. I dislike seeing the last of my tomato vines going into the compost pile, as it means that soon I’ll be without fresh, really fresh tomatoes. Living in a northern state, we get most of our winter vegetables and fruits from cold storage, California and even Chile. Does not replace fresh tomatoes, etc., out of the garden such as it is.
