The One Word Intention

image-1“Your Thoughts Create Your Reality”

Most of us have probably heard of or read this common quote. And most of us have probably also wondered if this concept could make our life better.

We’re all searching for that magic pill or right step to take that will make our life easier and more fulfilled. We desire a reality that brings us joy.

If its true that our thoughts can in fact create this reality then we better get to thinking some pretty darn good thoughts.

Your thoughts, ideas, beliefs do in fact lay the foundation for your day and even your life.

If you’re busy thinking negative, self deprecating thoughts your reality will reflect these thoughts. Your life is a mirror for your thoughts.

Shamelessly Me

design-1“So, what do you do?”

This is a question I often get asked.

It’s a question with many answers.

I do a lot.

I breath. I sleep. I eat. I spend my days with my 3 kids.

These answers I know are not what people who ask that question want to hear. Really they want to know what I do that defines me or more precisely what is my job.

Strange really how our jobs define us as people. We are writers, electricians, teachers, administrators, etc.

But are we really? Do any of the above actually define who or what we are?

I say no way. We are so much more than what pays our bills or where we drive to each day.

How I Threw Away My Mask

I once was the star of a play. This wasn’t a big Broadway production. It actually wasn’t even well known. It existed in the backyard of a green house, my  childhood house. There were swings, an above ground pool and a shed that had steps leading up to a low nail strewn ceiling ready to impale me at any sudden moves.

So I played it safe, I made no sudden moves. At this time I already had my mask. It was given to me as a parting gift as I left the hospital on my third day of life. I never even had to add on to it. The people who surrounded me were nice enough to do it for me. I didn’t know any better. I let them. There were pink ribbons and zippers and words written upon me in the dullest of graphite.

Tiny Specks of Miracles

Looking through the rays of light coming through the window I see the tiny specks floating around me. It is clear evidence of the tiny specks of miracles that surround us all.

There may be some saying , “No, those aren’t miracles. Those are dust motes and shed skin.” To those I say, open your eyes and witness the tiny specks of miracles that do in fact surround us all.

When we think of a miracle we contemplate big life changing events like healed disease, surviving an overturned vehicle with only a scratch, finding a $100 bill inside a pair of old jeans. And yes, these can in fact be miracles. But in no way are these super sized occurrences the only definitions of miracles.

A neighbor called the other day to tell me that my street living cat who gave up residence and all but emancipated himself from us 3 years ago was limping so she took him to the vet. This neighbor who shared her love not only with our shared cat, but also with my family is a miracle.

Reflections of a Day

Waking up each day offers new possibilities. Each day we have the ability to  create new and exciting experiences and possibilities. We have a say in how our day goes. It starts very simply. It starts in a reflection.

A mirror reflects back to us that which it sees. When you stand before a mirror you get a direct reflection of what you currently look like. If you have a red long sleeved shirt on you see yourself in that exact long sleeved red shirt. You wouldn’t see yourself in a black short sleeved shirt. That wouldn’t be possible because a mirror can only reflect you exactly as you are at the time of looking into said mirror.

The Universe is like a mirror. It reflects.

The Universe can be defined in many ways. It is the stars and galaxies. It is matter and energy. My Universe, the one I associate with, is human experience through divine power. The Universe is what we are all consciously and subconsciously a part of. Some may call it God, or the Divine. The Universe is that which holds all things in its grasps. We are all Universal Energy, part of the Big U.

Planting the Seeds of Intention

FullSizeRender-1 copy

“Intention is the core of all conscious life.

Conscious intention colors and moves everything.”

-Master Hsing Yun

What is Intention? Intention can be defined as an aim that intends action, physical, mental or spiritual. Action being the key word here. Action and movement are the ultimate goal in an intention. Intentions can set up your days and life with awesome outcomes.

Intentions can be personal mantras or daily goals. Waking each day and setting an intention can set your day moving in the right direction.

You wake up, get out bed, brush your teeth. You have thought nothing, only following the rhythmic movings of the cog in the machine. It is as if you are mechanical going through the motions of a life you have no control over.

Now let’s start over – you wake up, stretch your body waking every cell – now before getting out of bed ask yourself what you want for the day?

Exercise in Spirituality

I was asked recently what it means to be Spiritual. I stopped and thought. My answer was simple, it means to “feel”. Spirituality to me is not religion. Religion is based on set beliefs determined by past doctrines adopted by groups as a way to live.

Religion has set rules and standards to live by. There are deities to worship, commandments to follow and rituals to adhere to. Religion works. It gives people something solid and comforting to live on. It is a Rock, hard, solid, and rarely changing. It offers community and safety in numbers.

Spirituality on the other hand is a feeling. It exists without thoughts, without order, without rules, without buildings. Spirituality resides within a body. It can lay dormant never being unearthed or it can vibrate through you throughout the day.

The (Your) Possibilities Are Endless

IMG_6091

When you look at the world as a new place every morning of everyday the possibilities are endless. There is the choice every single day to open your eyes to new possibilities.

Yes, you will still have responsibilities, work, kids, cars that need repair. But as the sun rose to a new day so did you.

I have been working a lot on manifesting and Law of Attraction lately and have again concluded that it all starts with mindset. How your mind is programmed, as a computer is programmed, determines how your day will run. This is tied in with your thoughts creating your reality.

Can a computer be re-programmed? Absolutely. Can your thoughts, therefore your day, your life be re-programmed? Absolutely!

My morning starts with immediate gratitude. Before my eyes even open I welcome the amazing day. I do this before my thoughts can even make it near the slithering serpent of negativity. Then I open my eyes with smile.

Green Notebook Diaries

IMG_5276

Creation is a way of connecting to inner-self. Creation opens up a pathway to the secret recesses of self.

I create because I am alive and inside me there is a spark that must be released. I am a vessel of thought,  power, and love. It must be shared.

Once I open up the channels of creation I become one with a Universal power.

I began to write conscious words from a young age probably around age 7. I still have my green folder filled with my words.

I was never told to write freely. I chose to or was directed to by an external force. I wrote without knowing or having a Why.

What’s Your Worth?

image(1)

“In every aspect of our lives, we are always asking ourselves, How am I of value? What is my worth? Yet I believe that worthiness is our birthright.” -Oprah Winfrey

How much are you worth? If you could put a value on yourself, what would that value be?

I am guilty of selling myself short, of looking at others and seeing their strengths and accomplishments yet seeing my own as less than.

Take this last year for instance. I have accomplished a lot on a personal level yet I could not acknowledge this “lot” until I pretty much forced myself to.

I am a writer.

A year ago I would never have claimed such a claim even though I have been writing since a very young age.

I would never have considered myself a writer because no one else considered me one.

The question is why didn’t anyone consider me one?

The answer is simple. I didn’t stake my claim. I can only be what I myself acknowledge...
