CEOs Panic: Europe Rules Corporate Tax Loopholes Are Illegal

Source: www.usuncut.com | Original Post Date: October 22, 2015 –

The European Commission’s ruling is the result of years of sustained activism from anti-austerity groups like UK Uncut.

Thanks to a new ruling from the European Commission, Starbucks and Fiat are now finally being forced to pay their fair share of taxes, as tax loopholes benefiting multinational corporations with accounts in European countries known for their tax haven status have been ruled illegal.

After 5 years of direct action and organizing from the grassroots, anti-austerity movement UK Uncut, which ties corporate tax avoidance to public service cuts, the movement can claim another major victory — particularly in regards to Starbucks, as UK Uncut has targeted the company for years due to its reputation as a notorious corporate tax avoider.

9-Year-Old Activist Packs 100 Bags With Food For The Homeless Every Week!

Around 100 homeless individuals in the Portland, Oregon area are fed each week thanks to this kind-hearted young man.

When Dusty Liulay, an inspired activist with a heart to help the homeless, volunteered to work at a soup kitchen, he was told he was too young to participate.

You can imagine his disappointment, as he and his family have been volunteering at soup kitchens since he was five years old. No matter, the inspiring youngster turned this roadblock into an exciting venture and started “Dusty’s Sacks of Hope” to help the homeless in his own way.

With the assistance of a few volunteers, Dusty delivers nearly 150 brown bag lunches to homeless individuals in Portland, Oregon every week.

Bombshell Ruling: Feds Have To Keep Their Dirty Hands Off Legal Medical Pot Shops

Source: www.thefreethoughtproject.com | Original Post Date: October 21, 2015 –

San Francisco, CA – In a landmark decision, a federal court found that the federal government has no standing to block the legal operation of medical cannabis dispensaries, provided they comply with state laws.

The decision was a direct result of a congressional act last December, in which Congress cut off federal funding for the prosecution of cannabis clubs, provided they were operating within current state law.

The landmark decision came in the case of Lynette Shaw, who ironically opened the first licensed medical marijuana dispensary in the United States. Her dispensary was ultimately raided and shut down by the DEA in 2011.

Shaw has been in court over 100 times fighting the legality of the closure since her dispensary was shuttered, according to NBC. The decision by U.S. Judge Charles Breyer ended the long-running battle she has been engaged in with the federal government.

Canada’s New PM Issues Challenge To US – “We’re Ending Wars And Legalizing Pot”

Source: www.thefreethoughtproject.com | Original Post Date: October 22, 2015 –

If the phone conversation with President Obama is any indication of Justin Trudeau’s commitment, Canada will be giving its southern neighbor lessons in peace and freedom.

Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister-elect, told Obama on Tuesday that he will withdraw their fighter jets from Iraq and Syria. Both of these campaigns represent U.S. military aggression based on deceit and manufactured consent.

By withdrawing machines of death and destruction from the two countries plagued by military hegemony, Trudeau is making a strong statement and standing firm behind his commitment.

“I committed that we would continue to engage in a responsible way that understands how important Canada has a role to play in the fight against ISIL (Islamic State), but he (Barack Obama) understands the commitments I’ve made around ending the combat mission,” he told reporters in Ottawa on Tuesday.

Mexico Considering Legalizing Cannabis To Weaken Drug Cartels

Later this month, the supreme court of Mexico will review the country’s current prohibition of marijuana, as well as the possibility of legalizing the plant for medical and recreational use. Medical marijuana is currently legal in Mexico, but the black market drug trade in the country continues to cause widespread violence, drug cartel, and gang activity, just as it does in America.

Marijuana legalization has traditionally been a very popular concept in Mexico, where people understand the real-life consequences of the drug war and prohibition. However, the United Nations has forced many countries around the world, including Mexico, to comply with the drug prohibition policy the United States government has championed.

Now, with many U.S. states choosing to legalize the plant, Mexico is seeing a window of opportunity to change the laws at home, keep non-violent offenders out of jail, and minimize the violence created by the black market.

Iceland Sentences 26 Bankers To A Combined 74 Years In Prison

Source: www.usuncut.com | Original Post Date: October 21, 2015 –

Unlike the Obama administration, Iceland is focusing on prosecuting the CEOs rather than the low-level traders.

In a move that would make many capitalists’ head explode if it ever happened here, Iceland just sentenced their 26th banker to prison for their part in the 2008 financial collapse.

In two separate Icelandic Supreme Court and Reykjavik District Court rulings, five top bankers from Landsbankinn and Kaupping — the two largest banks in the country — were found guilty of market manipulation, embezzlement, and breach of fiduciary duties. Most of those convicted have been sentenced to prison for two to five years. The maximum penalty for financial crimes in Iceland is six years, although their Supreme Court is currently hearing arguments to consider expanding sentences beyond the six year maximum.

Chuck Norris Calls Out Monsanto For Poisoning The Food Supply

Source: www.trueactivist.com | Original Post Date: October 19, 2015 –

Chuck Norris is frustrated over the health risks caused by the world’s most popular weedkiller.

Earlier this year, the World Health Organization (WHO) deemed the chemical concoction glyphosate, which is the main ingredient in Monsanto’s #1 weedkiller Roundup, to be “probably carcinogenic.”

While some countries scrambled to ban Monsanto’s herbicide shortly after the announcement, nations like the United States did nothing to prevent the further use and spread of the incredibly toxic concoction.

It’s Tesla Time! This Simple Gadget Grabs Power Right Out Of The Air To Power Your Devices!

Source: www.engadget.com | Original Post Date: September 30, 2015 –

What you see above may look like an unremarkable slice of electronics, but it can theoretically power a low-energy device forever, and for free. If that sounds like a big deal, well... that's because it is. Drayson Technologies today announced Freevolt, a system that harvests energy from radio frequency (RF) signals bouncing around in the ether and turns it into usable, "perpetual power." Drayson isn't exactly a household name, but the research and development company has a particular interest in energy, especially where all-electric racing is concerned. And now it's developed the first commercial technology that literally creates electricity out of thin air.

Scientists Believe They May Have Located An Advanced Alien Civilization

scientists-believe-they-may-have-located-an-advanced-alien-civilization

A new discovery regarding anomalous brightness frequencies in KIC 8462852 has scientists cautiously declaring they may have found a star system that harbors advanced extraterrestrial life forms. These life forms may have built megastructures in order to harness solar energy.

Lead author of the study, Tabetha Boyajian, says his group has been looking for alternate explanations since 2011, when “citizen scientists” flagged the star as exceedingly bizarre. Currently, it experiences dips in brightness up to 22%, which could not be the result of a passing exoplanet. Usually, this kind of unexplained activity is the result of a displaced mass of detritus formed within a new star system before gravity has had time to condense or absorb it. But, KIC 8462852, located between between the constellations Cygnus and Lyra, is not a new star.

Did The United Nations Just Call For The Decriminalization Of All Drugs?

did-the-united-nations-just-call-for-the-decriminalization-of-all-drugs

News circulated Monday morning that the United Nations had officially called for the decriminalization of all drugs in a brief, two-page report. Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin, hinted on Sunday that the announcement would be made, but by Monday morning, the U.N. announced it had no such intention and that the document merely reflected the author’s opinion. Even so, the BBC and Branson himself suggest the document was withdrawn following resistance from at least one country.

As Richard Branson wrote in a blog post before the official release of the report:

In an as-yet unreleased statement circulated to the BBC, myself and others, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which has shaped much of global drug policy for decades, call on governments around the world to decriminalise drug use and possession for personal consumption for all drugs.”

The report was to be released at an international harm reduction conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Branson continued:
