BILLINGS, Mont. — The Obama administration on Friday proposed lifting most remaining federal protections for gray wolves across the Lower 48 states, a move that would end four decades of recovery efforts but that some scientists said was premature.

State and federal agencies have spent more than $117 million restoring the predators since they were added to the endangered species list in 1974. Today more than 6,100 wolves roam portions of the Northern Rockies and western Great Lakes.

With Friday’s announcement, the administration signaled it’s ready to move on: The wolf has rebounded from near-extermination, balance has been restored to parts of the ecosystem, and hunters in some states already are free to shoot the animals under state oversight.

Butterflies heralding the new energy

I often see recurring themes around me in terms of animals that present themselves to me. It is one way that spirit helps to tell me stories. I have been seeing two kinds of butterflies in my area that are significant. The first, has a look alike and we only were able to identify it based on territory. It is the Western Tiger Swallowtail - it features yellow with black markings, similar to the Zebra Swallowtail.

The second butterfly that I have been seeing is brown with white wingtips. It is called the Mourning Cloak - I feel it represents the energies of past relationships, while the Tiger Swallowtail is hope.

On my walk the other day I was presented with a pair of Western Tiger Swallowtail wings that were directly on my walking path. Today when I went out I saw one of the yellow butterflies dart across my path, dancing with the Mourning Cloak. As they were dancing in swooped a second Tiger Swallowtail and the three of them swirled around each other until the two flew off as a perfect wing pair, like Twin Flames for butterflies!

The body is full of rhythms, when healthy. The heartbeat, the breath, and circulation all provide pulsing rhythms. Like Morse code these rhythms convey meaning. For example the heart beat gets erratic when someone is frightened.

Researcher Michael Thaut, Ph.D., who heads the Center for Biomedical research at Colorado State University, has been using musical therapy to aid stroke victims. He says, "The brain's motor system has a strong capacity to use rhythm as a time keeper to guide and organize physical functions. Those who listen to 30 minutes of music during rehab showed improvements in their ability to walk faster and steadier."  The rhythms of music entrain the rhythms of the body!

In 2001 the Cleveland Clinic found that music lowered stress levels and in young cancer patients built up their immune systems. A client's comment cements this idea: "I really got into it. The sound entered my mind and soul, so that every part of me was filled with energy. I visualized the cancer disappearing. At the same time I used visual imagery to rid myself of the stress in my body, to find peace and harmony, and to find a way to love myself. Then it was like a cleansing that came over me."

According to a study by the Journey of Advanced Nursing people who listened to music an hour a day reduced their chronic pain by 20 percent. It is not surprising that patients notice the impact of healing music and sounds. 

Experimental studies are confirming the effectiveness of music and sound: "Several major physiological systems responded to the simple act of giving the mind a focus (such as sound or music): the metabolism decreased, the heart rate slowed, respiratory rate decreased, and there were distinctive brain waves." ~ Cardiologist Herbert Benson, M.D. Head of the Behavioral Medicine Department and Mind/Body Medical Institute.

West Texas Oilfield Town Has Run Out of Water

Barnhart, a small community in West Texas, has run out of water. John Nanny, an Irion County commissioner and an official with Barnhart’s water supply corporation, said on Thursday that the situation was serious. When reached by telephone, he was working on pumping operations and hoped to have a backup well in service Friday morning. A load of bottled water was on its way to the community center, he said.

The town has one main well that serves 112 customers, according to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. But the well stopped pumping quickly enough Tuesday evening, and while there is still some water in it, Nanny said, “We don’t want to get down to the mud.”

Take some time to just sit and contemplate, and to be in nature and to honor the space between the past and the future as being right in the present where everything and nothing exist at the same time. Contemplate what expansion really means. Expansion requires space, a space where things are not arranged and controlled and organized and attached to past experiences or future expectations.

Allow the transition energy to work itself into a flow so that you can feel expansion and allow that expansion to fill the still point of the new moon. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention a daily lesson gleaned from our extensive yard and my intensive gardens, namely, that wild edibles are infinitely easier and more naturally prolific than fussy annuals or even some intentionally planted perennial vegetables. I have gathered bags and bags of dandelion greens this Spring, given them away to friends, blended them into smoothies, happily fed guests and ourselves on Goji Dandelion Red Lentil Curry, sauteed them, and even wrapped them around slices of raw Manchego.

I’ve made gorgeous salads of wild violets, and yesterday, I harvested a huge bag of lambsquarters and garlic mustard for an almond butter veggie curry dish served over millet. (Sorry, no recipe for that one … it’s basically just blended garlic mustard and lambsquarters with water, then two packets of frozen organic veggies mixed with the green water, almond butter, some red curry paste, homegrown dehydrated tomatoes, and fresh garlic. I toasted the millet in coconut oil for a few minutes before boiling it.) In 2012, stinging nettles were “my best crop,” and this year I even purchased some nettle plants from a local farmer. [Hello friends. It's been since May 1st 2013 that I had a channeled communication with other forms of conciousness. I'm back again after almost a month to share some experiences that include connections and a channeled connection that was very strong to me and I have to say, I have missed that feeling. On May 3rd 2013, as I was walking outside, I suddenly found myself  in a kind of an ecstasy situation and to be more exact,  I found myself in what seemed to be a translucent full of  light colors space that seemed like a room. I instantly felt that this was the interior of a space ship. Then, a gentle being that seemed like a male appeared in front of me but his legs had a smoke like form but he didn't seem like a hologram. It was like he had just manifested. I was sitting down on a translucent seat and behind that gentle being, who by the way had a warm smile all the time, there was a kind of hologram device because out of it appeared three pictures with a diagram like appearance. The being told me through telepathy, that these diagrams were showing the vitamin differences between the healthy and not so healthy foods. Instead, the company is trucking water—nearly 1 million gallons of it in just one week—from the City of Kalkaska’s water system to meet its needs. This one fracking operation today is using more water than Kalkaska is using for all its needs over the same time period. The Westerman 1-29 HD1 gas/oil well, located on Wood Road in Rapid River Township, Kalkaska County, originally permitted to Chevron Michigan, LLC, is now being operated by Encana.
