Am I missing something? Isn't the shadow she's speaking of only because the Sun happens to be shining in that direction at the moment? You see the same "shadows" on everything there. Later in the day won't the shadow be on the other side? Simple but maybe I am not seeing what she's talking about?
You are correct! There are shadows under the top of the ring as well as below the ring, indicating the direction of sun light on the form. She is simply incorrect that there is only one shadow.
