If you are like me, you had breakthroughs (yay!) with last week’s Uranus-Mars alignment, but also became aware of certain unexpected changes that may have felt problematic (boo).

Interesting thing is, if we look to the core of both the “yay” and “boo” polarities, we may find the same intention at work: the freeing-up of our energy to focus on what is most important in our lives, both personally and in our contribution to the greater good.

SINCE we are needing to take this week a day at a time, I think that’s how I’ll approach today’s Journal:

On Monday, a Saturn-Mars quincunx tells us that there’s a need for an attitude adjustment. If we’ve been residing a fearful place in anticipation of loss or endings (Saturn in Scorpio), it can be inhibiting our ability to forge ahead into the new adventures that await (Mars in Aries). On the other hand, our restlessness and desire for the new (Mars) can distract us from attending to our responsibilities (Saturn).

Our challenge is to use both the practicality of Saturn and the energy of Mars to their best advantage, so that this quincunx does not drain our reserves, but helps us know which qualities to use and when.

MARS is again highlighted on Tuesday, through aspects to both Jupiter and Pluto. The Pluto-Mars square is the bigger energy of the two, challenging us to know ourselves well enough that we can channel our assertiveness in positive ways. Pluto does tend to bring issues to the surface that may have been silently brewing, and Mars tends to ignite our irritations or angers, especially if we feel that our autonomy is being compromised.

In the bigger picture, this Pluto-Mars square is showing us where we still hold ourselves back from really achieving the bigger breakthroughs in our lives — perhaps ones that were foreshadowed during the Uranus-Mars alignment last Friday.

With Jupiter also squaring Chiron on Tuesday, another growth-step comes in the form of requiring us to calm our minds so that our faith and trust in the universe can become more predominant in our experience.

WEDNESDAY brings us an important and perhaps life-changing Full Moon, due to the many alignments in the lunation chart: We have a stellium of planets in Aries (Venus, the Sun, Uranus and Mars), all opposite the Moon in Libra, all square Pluto in Capricorn, and all sextile Jupiter. Plus a yod (“finger of God”) aspect between Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter. Plus a stellium in Pisces involving Neptune, Mercury and Chiron.

That’s a lot going on, energetically speaking.

Even the Sabian symbol for this Full Moon clearly points to the need to maintain our calm and our purpose in the midst of some challenges:

“A woman feeding chickens and protecting them from the hawks.”

WE CAN interpret this image as the need to nurture and comfort the aspects of ourselves that feel vulnerable (chickens) with this Full Moon, staying on task even if fears (hawks) arise.

We can also gain insights from reading the Sabian symbol for the location of the Sun and Venus at the time of the lunation:

“A man succeeds in expressing himself simultaneously in two realms.”

Our success this week seems to lie in being aware of and managing the challenges of the earth plane, while also tapping in to the awareness of our greater Self, which has perspectives far beyond the limitations of the human mind.

MORE CONFIRMATION: I must share that right after writing that last paragraph, I heard the rat-a-tat of a woodpecker outside, so went to investigate. It was a large Pileated Woodpecker, which is always a spectacular sight.

Due to the timing of this winged messenger, I felt it important to look up its symbolic meaning, to see how it relates to the Full Moon themes. Ya gotta love this:

“The Pileated Woodpecker is the largest in the woodpecker family. The symbolism of the colors are important to his meaning. The black and white is representative of how we look at things, our perspectives, and being able to discern between rational and emotional based situations. This is a meaningful totem when one is being overwhelmed by drama and not able to see clearly the basis of what is truly happening. The red crest is symbolic of power, and in this case, powerful mental faculties. The Pileated Woodpecker is a Master at his craft, nurturing and teaching those around him to find their rhythm in life, and to stay connected, balanced, and level headed in their thinking.” (from the Conscious Art Studios website)

How appropriate, based on what we were just discussing with regards to this Full Moon!

THE THEMES of the Full Moon continue throughout the rest of the week, as we work with the exact Uranus-Sun-Venus alignment on Thursday; with aspects between Mercury and Jupiter, Chiron and Pluto on Friday; and with exact squares between Pluto, Venus and the Sun on Sunday.

These planetary interactions provide us with a mix of change, challenge, and new beginning. The old is breaking down so that the new can be birthed. The more we attach to our conscious mind’s interpretation of circumstances, the more we may be caught up in drama and “not able to see clearly the basis of what is truly happening,” as our friend the Pileated Woodpecker has reminded us.

Level-headedness, nurturing self and others, reminding ourselves of the larger perspective, allowing change, staying in trust… these are the keys for navigating the energies at hand.

Blessings,

Pam
