A very strong earthquake with recorded magnitude of 7.0 struck Papua, Indonesia on April 6, 2013 at 04:42 UTC. Epicenter was located 240 km (149 miles) E (83°) from Enarotali, Irian Jaya, Indonesia and 271 km (169 miles) WSW (246°) from Jayapura, Irian Jaya, Indonesia at coordinates 3.526°S, 138.466°E. Both USGS and EMSC report magnitude 7.0 earthquake and depth data is very similar; USGS measured 68 km whereas EMSC measured 60 km. GDACS reported that this earthquake can have a medium humanitarian impact based on the magnitude and the affected population and their vulnerability. There are 350 000 people living within 100 km.
