Did you hear about the 800 esteemed scientists who came together and demanded the production of genetically modified crops and products be stopped? Scientists who called on world powers to re-evaluate the future of agriculture and seek sustainability rather than corporate profits? Don’t be surprised if you haven’t, as the mainstream media won’t touch this one.

Eight-hundred scientists did make such a demand. They made it first over a decade ago and they have updated it over the years, adding signatures and release dates. Still global powers have all but ignored their calls.

Abcnews, By: ABC, 05/24/2013

An earthquake has struck Northern California's Plumas County with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7. Rafael Abreau, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Center, says the temblor struck at 8:47 p.m. and was centered six miles west northwest of Greenville, and 26 miles southwest of Susanville.

Abreu says there have been no reports of damage in early field reports. KCRA-TV in Sacramento reports that the quake was felt in downtown Sacramento, about 145 miles south of the epicenter. There have been eight aftershocks ranging from 2.6-to-3.5-magnitude.

Mystery of Moon’s Magnetic Field Deepens

Mystery of Moon's Magnetic Field Deepens

The moon generated a surprisingly intense magnetic field until at least 3.56 billion years ago, 160 million years longer than previously thought, a new study reports. These findings could shed light not just on the magnetic field of the moon, which is now extremely weak, but on that of asteroids and other distant worlds, investigators added.

Earth’s magnetic field is created by its internal dynamo, which itself is generated by the planet’s churning molten metal core. Research increasingly suggests that the moon once had a dynamo as well, with evidence of magnetism found in lunar rocks returned by Apollo astronauts. Models of the moon’s core suggest its dynamo should have lasted only until about 4.1 billion years ago. However, last year, scientists revealed that the moon possessed a magnetic field for much longer than previously thought, with a powerful dynamo in its core from 4.2 billion years ago to at least 3.72 billion years ago.

China destroys three shipments of GM corn from US

The law says that the Ministry of Agriculture must require environmental and food safety tests to be carried out by Chinese institutions, in order to verify data provided by the seed developer. All these documents must be reviewed by the National Biosafety Committee before the MOA can issue a safety certificate.

Yet these shipments of US corn did not have the relevant safety certificates and approval documents, according to the news reports below. A Chinese citizen, whom we call Mr Li, calls the new government’s decisive move to destroy the illegal GMOs “progressive, encouraging, and satisfying”. He regards it as a sign that it is keeping its promise to work for the people and the nation.

The Impressive Health Benefits of the Oldest Trees on Earth: Access 253 Million Years of Mother Nature’s Wisdom

Silver's picture

Thehealersjournal, By: Admin, 05/21/2013

Ginkgo biloba is a “living fossil” as was stated by Charles Darwin (1959).  It is the oldest living tree species in the world.  The Ginkgo species dates all the way back to the Permian Period some 286 to 248 million years ago.  Ginkgos began increasing in number a great deal in the middle of the Jurassic Period through the Cretaceous Period approximately 213million to 66.4 million years ago. During this era of the first flowering plants and the height of the Dinosaurs, fossils revealed several different Ginkgo species.  These species were common and outspread in Asia, Europe, and America.  This era along with its incredible kingdom of plants and animals ended with complete extinction.

Scientists had thought that Ginkgo, along with the rest of the prehistoric plants and animals, had too ceased to exist.  It was not until 1691 that Englebert Kaempfer (1651-1692), a German Physician and Botanist, made a most amazing discovery in China.  Ginkgo had somehow survived the devastating Ice Age, although it was not quite the same as its ancient ancestors.  Due to environmental changes, the ancient Ginkgo had evolved. Today, Ginkgo biloba is the only surviving member of the Ginkgo family.  This survival is said to be owed to its remarkable adaptability, resistance to disease, and to Buddhist monks who cultivated and preserved the trees on sacred grounds.

Electricity From Thin Air: Using Nanotechnology to Capture the Energy Around Us

Energy exists all around us — in the motion of a heartbeat, the fluorescent light in an office building, and even the flow of blood cells through the body. These individual units of energy are relatively small, but they are numerous. Dr. Zhong Lin Wang, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, has developed a way to harness this ambient energy.
