Witnesses report that a ball of white / red that left a trail, crossed the horizon and seconds later heard a loud explosion. Police looking for traces of meteorite.

 

La Paz, BCS-The fall of a mysterious object that occurred at 4:08 pm today and caused a loud explosion was heard in the capital city, has originated and mobilization of elements of the Municipal Police and Protective Civil Chametla area and El Centenario.

Large Meteorite Spotted in Eastern U.S.

Several reports were made, to the American Meteor Society, of a large meteor above the eastern coastal states of the U.S. at about 7:55 p.m. EDT Friday.

 

The reports described a large fireball that appeared white or green in color and moving from left to right.

Cape Town - Residents across Cape Town claimed to have sighted a meteorite on Tuesday after what appears to have been a fireball “exploded” in the sky.

It is said to have been sighted just after noon. Nicola Loaring, an outreach astronomer at the South African Astronomical Observatory, said they had received about four or five reports.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Federal researchers confirmed Tuesday that the city Decorah sits atop a 3 ½-mile wide hole that formed 470 million years ago when a meteorite hit the area, one of just 180 or so known impact craters on earth.

 

Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey said aerial gravity and electrical magnetic surveys of the area confirm the work of geologists that shows a buried crater concealed beneath bedrock and sediment.

Meteorite hunters at the bottom of the world bagged a rare find this southern summer: a 40-pound (18 kilogram) chunk of extraterrestrial rock.

A team from Belgium and Japan discovered the hefty meteorite as the members drove across the East Antarctic plateau on snowmobiles. Initial tests show it is an ordinary chondrite, the most common type of meteorite found on Earth, Vinciane Debaille, a geologist from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, said in a statement
