God bless you this day and in the future. We share a recipe with chard for your well being. Red Swiss Chard builds healthy lung tissue. This is special soup what I makedid for Jemez Pow Wow week in New Mexico.
1 chicken carcass with meat...about 2 cups
1 sprig fresh basil
salt and pepper--1 t. each
two cups baby carrots left whole
1 bunch green onions chopped
2 cloves chopped garlic
1 t. curry
1 t. paprika
1 t. turmeric
2 bunches red chard
2 small mexican squash washed and sliced (zucchini)
1 red pepper cut into fine strips
In a three qt. stock pot, cover chicken and basil with fresh water. Add salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and simmer for two to three hours. Remove chicken and any errant bones. Take meat off chicken. Pour off enough broth so pot is about half full. (save or freeze extra) Add next 6 ingredients along with chicken meat and simmer for 1-2 hours. Gently wash the chard..Take your time and silently give thanks and blessing to the chard for its healing properties while removing the stems. Touch the leaves, fold and layer them together and finely chop. Put these in a bowl. Fluff them with your hands. Smell the greeness, taste some. Add to soup and simmer until it is dark green and wilted. Stir it, watch it, breathe it in. Prepare the squash and pepper. Add to soup and simmer 1-2 hours.
It is a process of love and prayer to make the soup. Focus on the chard and feel its healing heartspeak.
