Lunar New Year is being celebrated in China and around the world. Setting off fireworks to celebrate renewal and ward off evil spirits is a traditional part of the celebration. China virtually shuts down for the week as people visit with families in their hometowns. In Beijing, the annual fireworks barrage was notably muted Sunday following government appeals to reduce the smoky celebrations after air pollution rose to near catastrophic levels over recent weeks. Here's a collection of images from the holiday.

Heaven Letters

God said:

This is the moment of Truth, when you sit down to hear what I have to say. This applies whether you are the one hearing what I say or reading what is written that I say. You hear or read My love translated into words. There is no distance in between. Distance does not exist. In any case, My words, My thinking, My love enter your cells. Beloveds, We are working on the cellular level. This is not a pastime that We engage in. We are beyond the realm of imagined time.

Thought is not separate from your atoms. You didn’t think I was just another Speaker or Writer, did you? The difference is that I am not watered down. The difference is that I am bare-boned honesty. I am not clever. I do not deliberate. Every word from My breath is forthright and spontaneous. I do not prepare My thoughts to present to you in words.

I don’t think there is a soul on earth that can’t feel the recent shift in energy on the planet. There is a lightness in our step and a flame burning in our hearts. It is time to come together and rejoice for freedom is ours at last. We must not let down our guard however, but rather apply our mega blast of love to the planet now. We must go out of our way to share our love and joy with strangers, give our services happily wherever needed, and reach out to others to help them over the bridge into the new world. Many will be confused about what is happening and will probably be filled with fear, so take time to calm the waters and guide them on their way. Be love in all ways. Offer it to others, shower it upon yourselves and help to create a lasting frequency of love upon the planet.

Lightning struck the St. Peter's Basilica Monday, hours after Pope Benedict XVI announced that he will resign as leader of the world's 1.1 billion Catholics on February 28. In this photo taken by Filippo Monteforte, the St. Peter's iconic dome received a direct hit from lightning during stormy weather.

When he became pope at age 78, Benedict XVI was already the oldest pontiff elected in nearly 300 years. He's now 85, and in recent years he has slowed down significantly, cutting back his foreign travel and limiting his audiences.

FIRST CAUSE OF EVERY THOUGHT

As we journey into the second energetic cycle of the year may you find yourself living from your deepest heart. Since the year is asking us as planetary citizens to think beyond our own "unwise selfish" and toward "wise selfish" it is a good time to take a moment and ask, "How do I know when I am living directly and immediately from the heart?"

A metaphysical approach to this is that the consistent thoughts that we are at home with reveal our heart's priorities. By deliberately pausing throughout your day and witnessing that around which your thoughts revolve is how you may observe the quality and depth of your heart-consciousness. Intensify your focus and look at how and where you feel most authentic. Are you in judgment or compassion? In your ego or in recognition of That which doeth the works in you, as and through you? Grasping and wanting, or surrendering and being non-attached? Keeping yourself entertained or living a the fulfilled life as a balanced leader?
