HJ: The most important thing that those having a dark night of the soul experience must understand is that it can only be overcome by looking within.  As long as someone in the midst of this experience focuses outside of themselves, they will remain within it, for the only way to transcend the experience is to begin dealing with the personal existential crisis which gives rise to it.  On the upside, the dark night of the soul is often times the catalyst for a very profound and life-altering awakening experience that can truly launch one to the heights of greatness and happiness.  This is because during one of these experiences, you are essentially being forced by your higher self to do the inner work necessary to liberate yourself from suffering.  Doing the inner work always leads to greater happiness, health and freedom.

Perhaps you have heard the saying “two steps forward, one step back”.  The dark night of the soul is that one step backward, preparing you to make two steps forward.  Those who do not succumb to the experience become massively strengthened by it.

I always appreciate Barbara Hand Clow’s analysis of astrological configurations. (See this.) Here she is talking about the entire spread of Uranus/Pluto squares from 2012 through 2015, and how this year we have been heading into the most intensely fermenting, revolutionary span of this four-year period. As she says, when with each exact square, other planets configure with it, either by conjunction, square or opposition, they trigger it in characteristic ways.

Abby and Mary’s artfully scary figure, front yard down the street from me, Green Acres Neighborhood.

The sun, this morning, when I took this photo, happened to be directly behind the figure’s “halo.” Hmmm. Dark and light together? Or as one wise sage told me, decades ago, “all light gives off a shadow” — except, I presume, at high noon at the equator, on this sun-drenched planet Earth.

As we lurch towards Halloween, that cross-quarter day between Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice, we inhabit what seems to be an increasingly polarized world —between those who are waking up and those who are still asleep, between the truly alive and the apparently brain dead zombies).

Meanwhile, since 2008 and the bankster debacle, the rot has migrated from the inside out, to “zombie homes” and “vampire homes.” Cf. two articles, from Las Vegas and Southwest Florida:
