To the eye alone, Uranus is a dull planet. It looks like a featureless blue-green ball, with few of the dynamic cloud patterns that decorate Jupiter and Saturn. Yet Uranus may have the most interesting history of any planet in the solar system: A collision soon after its birth may have knocked

The poles of most planets aim away from the plane of the solar system; like Earth's poles, they point roughly north and south. But the poles of Uranus point east and west, close to the plane of its orbit around the Sun. As a result, its north pole aims at the Sun at the beginning of northern summer, and away from the Sun at the start of southern summer. That gives the planet's northern and southern hemispheres 42 years of sunlight followed by 42 years of darkness. This sideways tilt also creates weather patterns unlike those on any other planet, with winds and clouds changing directions with the seasons.

Alright. This particular article is about the Asteroid Fly-By and I felt that it was important to bring the spiritual perspective into this.

First I want to go just physically with the grazing of a planet by a large object and how we look at that in terms of what it will do to communications on the planet.

Recent Nevada Earthquake was near Area 51

At 00:10:14 Universal Time on February 13, a 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Nevada. This quake was not preceeded by any quake activity but numerous quakes/aftershocks have occurred in the area since. See the table below for details.

ACKSON, Miss. -- President Barack Obama on Wednesday declared a federal disaster in Mississippi following a massive tornado that tore through a college campus and destroyed or damaged more than 800 homes in the southern part of the state.

 

Obama ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in Forrest and Lamar counties, which were severely affected by Sunday's tornado and resulting severe weather. The National Weather Service says the tornado had maximum winds of 170 mph and forged a path three-quarters of a mile wide.

Update 15:07 UTC: Let’s hope that the Russians are as good as the Chinese in making their assessment of the epicenter area. The chance that we will not find any reports from this area is rather high.

Update 14:45 UTC: More precise population data comes from GDACS. This confirms that with the new data (M6.6) , only very few people will have felt a very strong to strong shaking. Radius 20 to 75 km  : less than 1000 people. Within a 20 km radius : NO people
