6 Steps to a Meaningful Life

There is a path to a meaningful life.

Too often, however, we are stalled at the boulders that are blocking this path. We feel stuck, yearning for that something “out there” that will bring us joy, connection satisfaction.

So we look for satisfaction in the wrong places— in the refrigerator, at the shopping mall, in the martini glass, at the television screen, on the Internet and in the back of the cupboard where we keep the cookies.

The truth is:

Facebook is fun, but it does not satisfy deeply. Busyness overtakes time for rejuvenation and genuine relaxation. Cookies are tasty, but too many of them will produce new problems.

Increasing numbers of people are finding out that financial success, a dream house and personal recognition, while certainly making life more comfortable, are ultimately empty and sometimes even lonely when other parts of their lives are not satisfying.

So, back to the path to that meaningful life – how do we find it?

feature_image_template

Vicki Sando is a teacher who has created a solar-panel/garden array on top of their public school building. This allows for the students to be up close and personal with learning about science. Sando had told the Capital, “We made connections between plant study. Plants are little solar cells. I had my fifth graders take apart a solar calculator and show them how it worked. We don’t have a stand-alone curriculum on solar, but we’ll do projects where we’ll fold it into it.”

The Mayor of New York City, Bill De Blasio, reports that 23 million dollars will bring solar panels to 24 public schools approximately in the summer of 2016. As Sando and the students await the near future, they continue to learn and grow on their very own roof top. Way to go kids!

Redesigning Society: An Introduction to the Experts on Social Change

By Phil

The Purpose

The ‘Redesigning Society’ series will capture some expert perspectives on the current state of societal affairs, as well as the collective change we desperately need both philosophically and practically. It also aims to amplify mainstream engagement in how we should globally move forward for ourselves and our future generations.

The Context

Make no mistake about it; there is a growing community of ‘awakening’ people are who engaged in a core dialogue about what it means to be human at the start of the 21st Century. This awakening is a natural evolution for human consciousness and is composed of two overarching parts.

First is a deep realization of the innate interdependence we have with the entirety of reality, regardless if we look at it through the lenses of ecology, quantum physics or spirituality. The second is recognizing the social and systemic dysfunction that requires collective action to be transcended by redesigning our society to reflect the new era that humanity is adventuring into.

Heighten Your Senses With This Walking Meditation

The meandering path through the lush green of the woods served as a walking meditation for me. I was deeply immersed, steeped into the sweet nectar of the moment. Each of my senses took its turn to be heightened and fully appreciated.

The scenery transformed into high definition, becoming absolutely breathtaking as I began to gain elevation. The tops of trees looked like broccoli, the jagged, chestnut-colored cliffs smiled at me, and the benevolent blue sky was a boundless blanket of love.

I heard the cheery chirping of birds. I basked in the welcoming, social sound of dancing branches in the gentle wind. I listened intently to the subtle crunch of my shoes over small rocks and twigs.

The fresh scent of spring serenaded my sense of smell. I inhaled deeply with my eyes closed and was embraced by bouquets of blooming vegetation.

Despite the barrier of rubber between my feet and the ground, I felt connected with the Earth. My hand reached out and stroked the brown bark of a charming tree. It felt like an old friend.

4 Ways To Hone Your Intuition With Ease

Intuition is our eternal life navigator in a sense. A built in system that helps us compare the wrong path from the right path. Some people already have strong intuitions. In fact, some people have better life navigators than others. This is not a problem, however. You can just as easily have the best intuition as the next guy with these 4 ways of honing your built in navigation system! The biggest advice I can give is to be open minded and flexible.

1. Meditate Whenever You Can

Meditation can easily calm you down in seconds. Learning how to tune out the mindless sounds and disruptions by clearing your mind of all formalities. Reaching into your own mind and finding peace within yourself. Breathing slowly and steadily will make you feel mentally and physically reinvigorated.

By Reacting, You Strengthen Your Ego

How often in life we react to our circumstances? Almost always. It comes to us naturally though, or better put we do it unconsciously and that is why it might feel like second nature. We feel like we have answer to everything, we like to argue and complain, we think we know what is right for everybody, we love to point fingers at somebody who is doing something we don’t like and love to put ourselves on pedestal if we did something nice. What’s wrong with that, you might question. Well, just hang in there and I will tell you my theory about that, and then it’s up to you to take it into consideration or leave it, like nothing ever happened.

When you react to what happens around you, it’s actually not you reacting but your Ego. Your Ego has formed from your past events, and has a set way of seeing life. It is a part of you, that loves conflicts, problems, it feeds on them. Many people know it as” that little voice inside your head”. That little voice that tells you, You are not worthy; You can’t do this, What people will think? You don’t have any talent. Nobody loves you. You can never finish anything you start, and so it goes on ranting in your head, seriously polluting your precious soul. When you start believing your Ego and reacting in accordance to what it says, you give it power. You strengthen it. And then it really starts seeming that it is you saying all that stuff. It becomes difficult to see the separation.
