This is an interview with Robert Powell on a new book he co-authored about UFOs and the government's response. Robert is also the Director of Research for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).
Governments around the world have had to deal with the UFO phenomenon for a good part of a century. How and why they did so is the subject of UFOs and Government, a history that for the first time tells the story from the perspective of the governments themselves. It's a perspective that reveals a great deal about what we citizens have seen, and puzzled over, from the "outside" for so many years. The story, which is unmasked by the governments' own documents, explains much that is new, or at least not commonly known, about the seriousness with which the military and intelligence communities approached the UFO problem internally.
Many do not realize that for several decades the United States took UFO reports very seriously. In fact, it was the Air Force that coined the term UFO in the first place. Furthermore, there are several governments around the world who still take UFO reports very seriously and continue to investigate them in an official capacity. All of these government-sponsored UFO investigations have been documented like never before in the new book UFOs and Government: A Historical Inquiry.
The cover of the book says it is a history of government UFO investigations "from the perspectives of the governments themselves." That is because the authors have undergone years of painstaking research, unearthing hundreds of official government documents from government and university archives chronicling the manner in which government agencies went about tackling the UFO phenomenon and why they even bothered.
Couched in another otherwise lovely article about Dame Maggie Smith's illustrious career on the London stage is a little gem about her new Downton Abbey co-star, Shirley MacLaine and how she regaled the cast with tales of UFO encounters.
Canada's The Star newspaper sat down with Smith prior to her appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival and of course they got around to discussing Downton. MacLaine has joined the cast in the upcoming season as Cora's mother visiting from America, who'll spar with Smith's character, the Dowager Countess, for the role of family matriarch. The reporter asked Smith how she and MacLaine got on:

We see many patiently awaiting promised changes and many others who have chosen to move into doubt and despair. Try not to allow messages in and of the old energy to keep you from your center dear ones, for much of it functions as a tool to keep you in bondage to what is now finishing. When thoughts of discouragement come to you, always remember that they are not yours– they are impersonal. How could negativity flow from the Heart of the Divine which is what you truly are. Third dimensional thoughts and beliefs are simply energy waiting to be claimed by a receptive state of consciousness.
Today let us advise you that the portal opening is successful and you are handling it magnificently, as was expected. Already things are starting to pop, as you say. Most of the good news that the media is beginning to report is still being overshadowed by the old messages that were meant to keep you passive. But for those of you who have learned to depend on other sources, the signs are popping up everywhere.
It will still be possible for some to insist that nothing is happening, but not for too much longer. Now is the time for you to affirm for yourselves daily that what you are seeing is the succession of changes needed to produce your world of the future, abundant, free, and joyful.
